The addition of trace elements to optimise process biology is now part of the expertise of every performance-oriented biogas plant. Schaumann BioEnergy was the first supplier to produce tailor-made trace element mixtures using a scientific requirement standard. The basis of every product formulation was and is the precise analysis of all relevant parameters of the fermenter content. Only the actual requirement determined by analysis is added. Overdoses and the associated environmental impact are reliably avoided! The core objective of current research projects is to further improve resource efficiency.

Schaumann BioEnergy developed the innovative ACTILINC in collaboration with its research partners. These trace element additives enable reduced dosage and targeted supply at high process outputs. The innovative product formulation of ACTILINC is based on the invention of a new manufacturing process using a solid-state reaction. In this process, metal ions are combined with amino acids in a synthesis to form highly available trace element chelate complexes. ACTILINC is individually tailored as a customised trace element chelate mixture depending on the specific requirements.

The significantly improved availability of trace elements from the ACTILINC complex for bacteria and archaea has been scientifically proven and leads to accelerated biogas formation. These laboratory results were confirmed in a series of field tests under practical conditions.
Figure 1 shows an example of the faster reaction of ACTILINC in the biogas formation process when two different trace element formulations are added. In addition, the reduced application rate makes it easier than before to take soil ecology requirements into account.
Figure 2 shows a comparison of the bioavailable fractions in the fermenter content using sequential extraction between control and ACTILINC-treated fermenter substrates.
 
 

ACTILINC in the new BC.MAGXX product line

ACTILINC enables targeted trace element supplementation wherever analytically determined deficiencies need to be compensated for without causing a deficiency in macroelements or other fermentation problems. ACTILINC is applied via the new BC.MAGXX product line – the systematic addition to the Schaumann BioEnergy BC product lines. BC.MAGXX combines reduced application rates with a very good price-performance ratio.
