Principles of preservation

Silage preparation for biogas plants

Preventing energy loss

The risk of energy losses is hidden within the sensitive silaging process. For a smooth fermentation process and low energy losses due to fermentation failures and secondary heating, the use of specific ensilage agents and the correct processing of the harvest are essential.

Preservation with acids

Energy preservation in moist substrates

Bulk and free-flowing biogas substrates with high moisture content, like for example moist cereals or CCM, are exposed to a high spoilage risk and subsequent energy losses during storage.
The effectiveness of the acid treatment has been confirmed through tests with cereals and maize grain. The energy remains preserved until conversion in the biogas process.
